Peace Painting - Children's message for equity and peace

Peace paintings are paintings and short accompanying texts created by children and youth throughout world. Through workshops applying a methodology designed to increase mutual cultural understanding across ethnic groups and borders, the children are invited to express themselves using color on canvas. The projects enhance cross cultural competencies, dialogue, community engagement and psychosocial relief. The methodology applied is strong both regarding technical, artistic skills and regarding psychosocial counselling. The purpose of the projects is to give children and young people the opportunity to express themselves. Their messages are exhibited in public places where decision makers go.

About the exhibition:

The exhibition consists of 20 paintings created by children and youth from different countries. The paintings have been created during workshops organized by the Peace Painting foundation.

Peace Painting was organized as an ideal association in 2007 and established as a stand-alone, independent foundation in 2014. The work has so far been financed through project financing from governments, municipalities, regional organizations and private actors. The foundation has conducted several hundred projects in cooperation with schools, kindergartens, universities and colleges, refugee services, volunteer centers, asylum reception centers, health services, other NGOs and the Red Cross, bringing youth and children to the forefront and lifting their voices and self-esteem

The exhibition planned for Palais des Nations October 2018 has previously been exhibited at the Grand Hotel in Oslo in connection with the Nobel peace prize 2017. In February 2018, it was moved to the Defense Museum in Oslo.
