Organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva and the publisher Edition Lammerhuber.
This photo exhibition, now in its third year at UNOG, features a number of photos from the Alfred Fried Photography Award 2016, which saw 16,883 entries from 127 nations. In September 2016, the Austrian parliament hosted the award ceremony for that year’s prize, which went to the German photographer Helena Schätzle for Devoted to Life, a portrait series of holocaust survivors in Israel.
The exhibition’s pictures reflect a myriad of perspectives and approaches to peace, showing that it is an intensely personal concept, of which each human being has his/her own interpretation and understanding.
