The eighteen session of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration (CEPA) will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 8 to 12 April 2019.

Priority Theme:

Six overarching issues will be explored from a variety of perspectives, namely:

  1. Enhancing the capacity of the public sector in core functional areas of administration.

  2. Governance and public administration aspects of empowering people to build equal and inclusive societies for the twenty-first century.

  3. Relating the principles of effective governance for sustainable development to practices and results.

  4. Building institutions to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development and provide access to justice for all.

  5. Strengthening fiscal management at the national and subnational levels.

  6. Stocktaking of progress on Sustainable Development Goal 16.

Written inputs

Observers are invited to submit written inputs in advance on the substantive issues tobe considered by CEPA at the 19th session. Deadline for submission is 28 February 2019. Inputs may be published on CEPA website before the session.

Oral interventions during the sessions

A limited number of observers may be able to make oral interventions during the session subject to time availability. Interventions must be focused on the issue under discussion. Inputs on other issues will not be accommodated. Such interventions should not exceed three minutes (approx. 300 words).

  • NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC and all other observers are requested to submit their written inputs by 22 March 2019 via email to dpidg@un.org.

  • Written inputs may not exceed 1,500 words
  • Inputs must pertain to one of the items on the agenda of the 18th session as approved by ECOSOC. The number and title of the agenda item in question must be indicated on the submission
