The first round of formal consultations leading to the development of the global compact on refugees will take place in room XVIII of the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
The formal consultations are the last step in the development of the global compact on refugees. They follow the early application of the CRRF in different contexts; five thematic discussions held with a range of stakeholders in the second half of 2017; and the tenth annual Dialogue on Protection Challenges in December 2017, which was an important stocktaking opportunity. The “zero draft” of the global compact on refugees, to be circulated by the end of January 2018, will take into account the recommendations, good practices and lessons learned that emerged.
During the consultations, delegates will have an opportunity to provide their comments on the draft programme of action. Additional information relating to the consultations will be shared shortly and made available on the following website: www.unhcr.org/formalconsultations.
