WHO, in collaboration with the ILO and with support from the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism), is implementing a project on strengthening public health security and building resilience of hospitality industry and accommodation settings. This project will build upon the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and extreme weather events, in particular tropical storms, floods, droughts, and the other effects of climate change.

This project includes round tables with stakeholders, developing case studies, advocacy and communication materials, and capacity building for public health experts and managers of accommodation settings. It will be implemented in a blended way through meetings, workshops, interviews, video recordings, field visits and training sessions, both in person and hybrid, between 15 April  and 7 June 2024 primarily in Geneva, Switzerland

The participants in the consultations and training sessions will be the public health, labor, and tourism experts, managers of large, middle, and small undertakings in the hospitality and accommodation sectors, organizations of workers and customers, WHO collaborating centres designated in the subject area of occupational health, representatives of the ILO, UN Tourism and staff from WHO HQ and Regional Offices.

The project will be implemented in a blended format including bilateral and multilateral in-person meetings and field visits in the Geneva area (Switzerland and France), and hybrid workshops, webinars and training sessions. The working language will be English. Participation is by invitation only.
