The United Nations is taking a leading role in assisting Member States in their efforts to prevent and counter terrorism, including violent extremism conducive to it. In order to enhance our understanding of the terrorism threats faced by African countries, to share good practices and lessons learned, and to identify how cooperation among Member States and with the United Nations can be made more effective, the Republic of Kenya and the United Nations will convene on 10-11 July 2019 at the United Nations Office at Nairobi the African Regional High-Level Conference on Counter-Terrorism and the Prevention of Violent Extremism Conducive to Terrorism.

This regional conference will inform the next United Nations High-level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of Member States to be held June 2020. The conference will take place in an interactive format.
