The two-day Conference will address the issue of Israel’s policies and measures aimed at the forcible change of the character of Jerusalem, which have had significant political, legal and socio-economic ramifications, including the threat of derailing any prospect of a peaceful solution to the Question of Palestine. In the second day, the Conference will seek to formulate concrete actionable recommendations and ways forward among the relevant stakeholders for the preservation of the Sacred City. Conference panels will focus on specific aspects of the theme, e.g. “legal”, “political”, “religious”.

The Conference will provide an opportunity for expert speakers to inform about current developments regarding Jerusalem and highlight opportunities for Member States and civil society to engage decision-makers and stakeholders, with the aim of (1) stemming efforts to alter the demography and character of the City while also (2) providing viable alternatives that preserve the religious and cultural character of the City and (3) ensuring that all its Palestinian inhabitants enjoy their inalienable rights.

The conference, supported by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), will be organized in collaboration with the World Council of Churches (WCC).
