About the concert:

The "China meets West" concert, combining Chinese and Western classics and performed by the China National Opera House, will celebrate cultural diversity and provide a cultural experience for all guests to enjoy. The choir wishes to promote cultural exchange by playing the universal language of music.

The program includes choral singing, solo singing, and piano, violin and flute solos, presenting both Western classical music and traditional and folk music from China. 

 

About the China National Opera House:

Founded in 1952, China National Opera House is affiliated to the Ministry of Culture. The House has an opera troupe, a chorus, a symphony orchestra, a design centre of stage art, a stage art workshop and others. The House has been awarded over 100 awards in China, including National “Five Top Project Award”, “National Best Stage Art Project Award”, Wenhua Award of the Ministry of Culture, Wenhua New Theatre Award, Wenhua Performance Award and the like. A batch of classic operas produced by China National Opera House have been successively debuted in China, including Turandot, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, Carmen, La Bohème,Rigoletto , Die Fledermaus, Tannhäuser, The Valkyrie, Gotterdammerung and so on. The House has also created a series of Chinese operas, including The White-haired Girl, LIU Hulan, The Song of Prairie, Marco Polo, Farewell to My Concubine, The Hong Bang Tailor, LAN hui and so on.

 

China National Opera House has toured in countries such as Italy, France, Japan, Switzerland, Finland, the United States and others. In April, 2016, it travelled to Hungary to give performance in the “Budapest Spring Festival”. In May, 2016, it participated in the NCPA Opera Festival by performing Madame Butterfly, and in the same month, the House held “2016 Qintai Opera Week” in Wuhan, staging four operas, namely Turandot, Madame Butterfly, Tosca and The White-haired Girl.
