In resolution 33/20, the Human Rights Council has decided to request from the OHCHR the organization of a one-day inter-sessional seminar on ways to prevent, contain and/or mitigate the detrimental impact of the damage to or destruction of cultural heritage on the enjoyment of human rights, including cultural rights by all, and on best practices in this regard (para. 13 a). This seminar will be convened on 7 July 2017 in room XIX of Palais des Nations, Geneva. States, the Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights, experts and civil society organizations, relevant United Nations agencies, funds and programmes, other international organizations, national human rights institutions and cultural rights defenders involved in the protection of cultural heritage are invited to participate actively in the above-mentioned seminar. The seminar will be open to the participation of States, relevant United Nations agencies, funds and programmes, other international organizations, civil society organisations, national human rights institutions, cultural rights defenders and relevant stakeholders from across the world involved in the protection of cultural heritage. All States and organizations accrediting representatives or individuals wishing to attend the Seminar are required to register online.
