Description

Organized by the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, in collaboration with the Russian Cultural Seasons International Festival.

This particular collection is dedicated to the World Festival of Youth and Students, a festival organized by youth organizations around the world since 1947. The festival programme includes, among other things, sports competitions, political seminars and discussions, concerts and processions. The sixth festival, held in 1957 in Moscow, became the largest in the history of the movement, bringing together 34,000 people from 131 countries.

This exhibition also aims to demonstrate that philatelic exhibitions are an integral element in the development of contacts and creative competition between philatelists, and reflect the development of philately (the collection and study of postage stamps). The organization of philatelic exhibitions received significant impetus in connection with the preparation for the VI World Festival of Youth and Students in Moscow, which was accompanied by a large international philatelic display.
